"Unnatural Alliances" preview pics

Yes, I know I never got around to the last new episode "Who Am I?". That's because I still haven't watched it yet (and I'm way behind in all my other TV watching), so I'll probably end up just putting some of my comments and the torrent link and calling it a day.

Anyway, here are the new pictures from this weekend's new episode, "Unnatural Alliances". Next weekend is a rerun, but the weekend after that is yet another new episode (2.08). If they're going to hold any back for Sweeps, they're running out of episodes. I suspect we'll see three new ones in February, then a 2-part finale in May, but that's just speculation.

When Terra Man, a villain from the future, arrives in the 31st century to hunt down a child, the Legion quickly acts to save the boy and keep him clear of Imperiex¹s obvious plot. But after Imperiex proves to be the boy¹s protector, the Legion must uncover why.

"Unnatural Alliances" is written by Keith Damron and directed by Brandon Vietti. Jeff Black plays Terra Man; Duo Damsel is voiced by Kari Wahlgren; Bumper Robinson joins the cast as Star Boy.

Notice that Duo Damsel gets herself a new costume this episode, and Star Boy finally gets a voice. But who'da thunk we'd see Terra-Man?

Let me guess: the kid *is* Imperiex.

Given that this is a comic-book universe, it'll probably be either him, his father, or his grandfather.

It's almost a shame they couldn't have worked Terra Man in as a villain from the past with a connection to Superman. Wouldn't have worked with this story at all, I'm sure, but it'd be interesting to see some more resonances of Supe's 21st century career during his 31st century adventures. (And whatever happened to Alexis Luthor, anyway? I hope she wasn't a casualty of the writer turnover...)

Alexis Luthor was last seen as a background character in one of the Takron-Galtos escape sequences in "Man from the Edge of Tomorrow pt. 2".

Luornu, as always, is a cutie. And they went with black Thom from Waid's run? Interesting.

She was? I didn't catch her, and I've seen the episode twice. Huh. Good to know she hasn't been forgotten--hope we get more with her soon.

Oh, and having nothing to do with anything in this post (sorry, but I figured you'd like the head's up), Newsarama is reporting that Keith Giffen's been signed to an exclusive contract by DC. In their interview, he's very coy about what his upcoming projects might be. Dare we hope for a Levitz/Giffen page or two during the 50th anniversary celebration?

Jonathan, Luornu is right there in the first two screenscaps...

Magnus: I was responding to Michael about Alexis Luthor (see the comment above yours). I did recognize Luornu, have no fear... :-)

I know Terra-Man as the Superman villain; is there any precident for his appearing in a Legion story?

Michael said...

Nope. In fact, the original Terra-Man was a gunfighter from the past who had futuristic (alien) weaponry, not a guy from the future.
