Trivia Quiz #24

Oops, this is the second Monday of the month. I usually do this on the first Monday. Let me hop in my Time Bubble and see what I can do. In the meantime, this month's theme: It's summertime, which means it's time for the annual DC line-wide crossover. This year it's Final Crisis, so I'll cover the events of issue #1 as well as other crossovers.

1. When has the Legion (or individual Legionnaires not counting any Superboy or Supergirl) met the Martian Manhunter?

2. Which Legionnaire was a member of the Monitor's first team at the beginning of the Crisis on Infinite Earths, and why?

3. Which Legion-related character(s) died in the Crisis on Infinite Earths?

4. How does the prison planet Labyrinth fit in with this quiz?

5. Pre-Crisis, how many other people were left in the Phantom Zone when Mon-El was released?

6. Who was/were the next Legionnaire(s) to join the Post-ZH reboot Legion following the initial draft?

7. Which Legionnaire(s) died in an issue outside of the Legion's regular series at the time?

You might want to remove the answers from #5-7 for those who have not already seen them.

1. He was present at the wedding of Duo Damsel and Bouncing Boy; Late v.4 he showed up as an old friend of Nura Nal; and - though I didn't actually read this one - I heard that in the reboot, he was suspected to be R. J. Brande.

2. Dawnstar; she was sent to protect the "tuning fork" erected in Kamandi's timeline

3. Kid Psycho; Supergirl; technically, the Flash (as the father of the Tornado Twins).

4. It was the new prison planet built in the wake of the destruction of Takron-Galtos, due to an anti-matter wave.

As above, I've already seen your answers for 5-7.

D'oh! I hate when that happens. Fixed now.

1. J'onn also met the part of the team stuck in the 21st Century during Final Night.

2. It thought it was because George Perez wanted to draw her, since she didn't do anything useful during the series!

5. For some reason, I have the number 1 stuck in my head, but I can't recall any of the details.

6. If by initial draft you mean the first influx from Legionnaires #0, Ayla was the first as Winath's official representative, though I seem to remember a comment that Winath may have just been late in responding to the initial draft. If you consider her to be in the draft, then it would be Andromeda, Violet, and Kinetix.

7. Well, Kid Psycho and Supergirl I died in COIE. A Valor died in the pages of his title, sparking the Zero Hour "DOA" storyline. Then Karate Kid and Una from the Lightning Saga Legion died recently in Countdown. I think that's all of them.

5. Originally, when Mon-El was released he went back into the Zone for an hour to gloat over all the other Zoners, who had taunted him for so long. It was the usual crowd, Jax-Ur and General Zod and all them.

This might have been in that period when the Legion was sometimes in the 21st century, sometimes in the 30th.

Later, it was realized that most of them would probably have been released from the Zone as their sentences ran out during the 1,000+ years between Krypton's destruction and the Legion's time. The it was established that there was only one prisoner left: the Mighty Gazor, the only guy to ever get a life sentence to the Phantom Zone.

1. J'onn may have been in the crowd at the group scene in issue #300, as well. (When he appeared as "Nura's old friend" it was immediately preceding either the Mysa vs. Mordru story or the Zero Hour reboot lead-up.)

2. Dawnstar, who I think the Monitor hoped would be able to locate the Anti-Monitor or his minions.

3. Kid Psycho and Supergirl, as noted.

4. Destruction of T-G, as noted.

5. Four? Zod, Jax-Ur, Ursa and Non? I don't even know if those last two are comics-continuity or only movie-continuity. Plus, Mighty Gazor, as noted.

6. Pass.

7. Good one. Does Monstress count?

1. J'Onn also met the founders in Martina Manhunter #11, and Martina Manhunter #1,000,000 shows an otherwise never seen battle where J'Onn and the Legion teamed up.

2. Dawny was on the team because of her tracking powers, to sense the Shadow Demons. And maybe her speed. I think this was stated in the Crisis Companion volumes that Waid wrote.

3. In addition to others mentioned, there must have been some Legion foes zapped when Takron-Galtos was destroyed. And can we count Laurel Kent, please? That would be easier than believing that Brainy couldn't tell that she was a robot when she got shot by Ivo's goons.

6. Brainy was technically part of the first draft, but ignored the message and thus didn't actually join until an issue later.
