Johns to leave JSA, follow up with Legion?

So Geoff Johns is leaving the "JSA" book with #26 (Comicbloc, Newsarama, CBR). He is also leaving "Action Comics" for the Superman origin miniseries.

I have more stories to tell, and the characters are endless, but that’s also true for the DC Universe. I’m ready to move on to some other challenges like returning to THE FLASH and SUPERMAN: SECRET ORIGIN. And I am also obsessed with making sure that GREEN LANTERN, BLACKEST NIGHT and everything around it is the absolute best it can possibly be. ...and that’s only part of 2009. There are some new projects on the horizon.

That conveeeeeniently leaves an opening in his schedule to write the new Legion book in "Adventure Comics". But I think this is secret code. He's trying to tell us something. Let's look at it again with our 12th-level intelligence filter:

I'm just saying, that's all.

Okay, I'll admit it Michael, that made me smile.

My apologies if you already knew about this - but the Wizard Platinum issue (released this week) confirms that Adventure will feature "Mon-El and the Legion." Cool stuff. :)

No, I hadn't seen that. Does it say anything else or just that? We already knew about the Legion, I'm a little surpised they're singling out Mon-El.

My guess is that the post-"New Krypton" storyline in (I think) Action Comics, which will apparently focus on Supes trying to free Mon from the Phantom Zone, will lead pretty much directly into Adventure v3 (?) issue one. My other guess is "Mon-El and the Legion" is meant to evoke "Superboy and the Legion." Though how all of this will work if we get the pre-Crisis LSH (where Mon has been a member since almost the beginning), I have no idea.

I think we are going to get a new team, another reboot. Recall, the original Adventure series began with Mon-El joining the team, albeit part-time, for the first four issues.

The old Adventure Comimcs tagline "featuring Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes" might change every few issues, depending on who the focus character is for that story, or arc.

Thus, "featuring Mon-El and the Legion of Super-Heroes," might, from time to time, read, "featuring Cosmic Boy and the Legion of Super-Heroes," "Shadow Lass and the Legion of Super-Heroes," or any other variation.

It that way, it would evoke the rotating head shots from the early v.5 logo.

Here's what Dan Didio is saying at newsarama today...

18: Any more information available on Adventure Comics? Can you confirm or deny that it will be the vehicle for the Legion of Super-Heroes?

DD: I can confirm and deny – that’s even better. I will tell you only one thing about it - Adventure Comics #0, even though it is reprinting the first appearance of Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes, it will also have a six page “Omens and Origins” that will get everybody talking and address multiple questions that are out there right now.
