Legion election voting is now open!

The Legion election has its own page at the DC site, open now through Nov. 10th. You have 25 candidates to choose from (including Chameleon Girl, Earth-Man, and Gates, but not including Matter-Eater Lad), with no write-ins. Apparently you're limited to one vote per IP address.

Greetings, Legionnaires!
By the order of the LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES CONSTITUTION, a Legion leader will be chosen in a manner determined by its membership. Please review the following list of active members for the Legionnaire that you feel embodies the traits and skills of a strong leader. Remember Legion Constitutional Amendment to Section 8.0: Anyone attempting to use their superpowers to influence the election may be exiled to Shanghalla and their votes discarded!

Computo will tally the votes between the polling period of OCTOBER 20 and NOVEMBER 10.

I voted for Gates, just to see what Paul Levitz would do with him.

And incidentally, section 8.0 of the Legion Constitution really does cover voting. The new leader is the one with a plurality of the votes, with the deputy leader the one with the next highest number of votes.

Where are the founders?

Of course by that I mean Garth and Imra. I'm one or two issues behind. Did I miss something?

I'm torn between a funny/"what would Paul do?" vote (say, Quislet) and a more serious vote. Hmm.

Star Boy isn't in there, either.

I had no choice. Tyroc is a possible Legion leader in a Levitz-written comic? Who else could I vote for?

Ok. It's been said there are 26 active members. Yet only 25 are listed on the Voting page.

;sup with that?

From #4 mission board:

Brainiac 5, Chameleon Boy, Colossal Boy, Cosmic Boy, Earth Man, Phantom Girl, Quislet, Sensor Girl, Shadow Lass, Shrinking Violet, Sun Boy, Tellus, Timber Wolf, Ultra Boy, Dawnstar, Dream Girl, Gates?, Lightning Lad, Lightning Lass, Saturn Girl, Mon-el, Polar Boy, Element Lad, Invisible Kid II, Tyroc, Wildfire.

That's 26.

From the voting page:

Brainiac 5, Chameleon Boy, Chameleon Girl, Colossal Boy, Cosmic Boy, Dawnstar, Dream Girl, Earth-Man, Element Lad, Gates, Invisible Kid II, Lightning Lass, Mon-El, Phantom Girl, Polar Boy, Quislet, Sensor Girl, Shadow Lass, Shrinking Violet, Sun Boy, Tellus, Timber Wolf, Tyroc, Ultra Boy, Wildfire.

Right off the bat, I notice it's minus Lightning Lad and Saturn Girl, and added with Chameleon Girl, making it 25 from 26 before.

Maybe those changes will be explained in #6 tomorrow.

Old fashioned of me, but I think I don't want to see a series of Legion leaders based on the principle of "How can we screw up things for the writer". In particular, the two biggest ones on this ballot would be Earth-Man and Gates. The former for obvious reasons, the latter because *this* Legion has known him for a whopping six issues and he's presumably still getting his bearings in this universe.

I rather see it go back to either who someone feels would make the best leader/deserves a turn as leader (i.e. Element Lad, who finally became leader after multiple runner-up Deputy terms), or even just popularity (i.e. Wildfire, although there might have been some "shake up the writer" then as well).

So, despite my fondness for Brainy, and curiosity for seeing how Jeckie's royal nature would work with a full, more than one case, term, I'm voting for Chameleon Boy, who vis a vis Espionage Squad and the like has been showing leadership qualities for a while now. And, if you insist, voting in a Durlan in the current xenophobic Earth/UP certainly sets up some writing challenges.

I really didn't want to screw Paul over either, and I didn't want ti go with those who had already served as leader in the past, so that left out my true LSH love Nura. I briefly considered Jacques, but his generally non-confrontational nature doesn't make for hard decisions. In the end, I thought that after all those years of putting up with Timber Wolf, Ayla deserved her shot, so... Lightning Lass it was.

I voted for Gates as well (before I saw your comment) because I thought he would provide a truly unique type of leadership, a different POV.

Here's hoping he wins, with Quislet as his Deputy...

I voted for Tellus, not because I wanted to mess with Levitz, but because Tellus is my genuinely favourite (or one of my top 3 fave) characters. He has come across as humble and willing to learn, two traits that I think would make a good Legion leader. And yeah, what would screw more with the xenos than having a Legion leader who doesn't have legs?

Sun Boy for me. I'd love to see how Dirk would run the team and see him eat his words about the election before. Basically, I chose the candidate that would throw a monkey wrench into the troubles the Legion are facing right now. But, I would think that Dirk has the gutso to run the team and lead people into any crisis.

...Based on Old Ego Trip's "well-rationalized" comments, I've not only voted for Gates, I've set up several hundred hoze accounts, all voting for Gates.

[watches OET run off to "report me" :P]

I voted for Ayla. I'd really like to see Tinya win (she has always been a favorite of mine), but I think Ayla is a genuine good choice.

I picked Tyroc in order to get an unused character used. It's not really trying to screw up the writer, but it's also not really trying to pick the person who'd make the best leader. For one thing, picking the person who'd be the best leader would mean that the same person would get elected every time.

There are very few bad choices in this election.

Gates is a good choice because he's interested in politics.

Tellus is a good choice because he's a thoughtful kind of guy.

Tyroc is a good choice because the guy was actually president of Earth once.

Quislet is a good choice because he could lead the Legion in directions that nobody else could ever even think up.

And so on.

Just wanted to make sure that everyone has done the exit poll at http://adventure247.blogspot.com/2010/10/who-did-you-vote-for-legion-leader-in.html

Currently Phantom Girl is the leading candidate for those who have taken the poll.

(And Bob, this is your only warning. I'll delete your comments if you keep it up.)

...Hey, if you'd actually *answer* your e-mail sometime, I wouldn't have to resort to that type of guaranteed-response post.
