Woohoo, my first poll! How well (or poorly) do you think "Legion of Three Worlds" is going to do? I've updated this to add a second poll, the first for how well the first issue will do, and the second for how well the last issue will do.
For official results, we'll use the data that's published on THE BEAT (such as this sales chart from June). Here are some relevant statistics with Final Crisis and related spinoffs:

My vote: due to the names Geoff Johns, George Perez, and Final Crisis, I'm going to say it'll start in the 70's.
My votes...
ReplyDeleteFirst issue: 70,001 - 80, 000.
High amount for the creative team, Final Crisis tie-in, supposed return of well liked characters (XS, Bart Allen), spotlight of well liked/much hated character (Superboy Prime), variant cover, and LSH fans
Last issue: 30,001 - 40,000.
Only supported by LSH fans, and a small contingent of Johns & Perez fans. I really hope I'm wrong with this, and that the actual number is a lot higher...but I have a pessimistically stubborn belief that the rest of comicdom just cannot "get" the Legion like us fans do. We had our grand hurrah back in the 80's, and it might have been our last.
Please, please, please prove me wrong Lo3W!
I voted for starts in the 70s, ends in the 50s.
ReplyDeleteI say 75K for #1, 62K for #2, and a 2-3K slide per issue from there.
ReplyDeleteOne thing that may change this is if there are genuine ties to Final Crisis (and that series starts to make sense). Also, if news breaks of big dramatic blow up for #5, might see a sales spike there.
I seem to keep doing this, but I found something I thought I should pass on. In his latest "blog" entry at Newsarama, Paul Levitz talks about his memories from Comiccon this year, including:
ReplyDelete"Holding Keith Giffen back from announcing we’d do a new LEGION run to a panel room of 700 dedicated Legion fans by reminding him that he’d have to get my wife to agree, and Science Police officers are armed. (Honest, I’d love to do if my travel schedule ever lightens up again.)"

I hear feedback from my retailer that response to the regular Final Crisis series is lukewarm. They chalk it up to a sort of fatigue. For 52, sales were strong, with Countdown, they quickly diminished and many people did not finish the series. Now with Final Crisis, apparently people are not even starting. Don't know of this will play into sales for Lo3W, but I wouldn't count on a huge amount of crossover sales.
