Remember what we talked about last week, about whether or not Adventure Comics was going to be revived?
Check out the preview to the upcoming "Adventure Comics Special Featuring the Guardian" over at Newsarama.
Then come back here and type in the comments about what your first reaction was, without revealing any spoilers (at least for the next day or so). Warning! Spoilers in the comments below!
My jaw dropped.
ReplyDeleteThat was my first reaction. Second reaction?
Joy. :-)
Someone left a comment on my earlier Adventure Comics post, so I was expecting a Legion flight ring. I was not expecting to see what I saw, and I think my reaction was along the lines of "Holy shit!".
ReplyDeleteIt's on page 4, so the reader won't see it until he turns the page.
Wonder if that's what Polar Boy, Wildfire, and Dawnstar went back to get in L3W #2?
I honestly never expected to see that... what shall I say to avoid spoilers... I honestly never expected to see what-I-saw-in-that-preview again.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I think DC gets unnecessarily baroque with its plotting and continuity.
That was certainly a pleasant surprise :) Bring back Quislet too and all is forgiven.
ReplyDeleteAlthough at the moment I'm wondering who the young girl is. Does she have a Legion connection too?
When I first saw him I though oh thats cool its a Tellus creature yay for using Legion aliens in the "present" then the Flight Ring and woah...it is Tellus..awesome
ReplyDeleteWicked sweet.
ReplyDeleteDOH!
ReplyDeleteFirst reaction was "Holy shit."
ReplyDeleteThen, "What the hell?"
Then, "Yay!"
Another for the "Holy shit" column.
ReplyDeleteAnd two more for "Hooray!"
I am filled with optimism.
Does this mean we'll get Quislet and Sensor Girl too?
ReplyDeleteI was like, damn, another comic to buy! I hope that DC is working towards something, and not just spreading Legionnaires around to sell comics to hopeless LSH addicts like myself.
ReplyDeleteGreat website by the way!
Hell YES! Mother*$@$#ing Tellus!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting... I would never have expected such an innovative plot twist in a Guardian one-shot. Guess I shouldn't underestimate Robinson...
That was a damn big "OMG" moment I actually said, out loud to myself "Oh my god!" And I'm an atheist!
ReplyDeleteI have theorized that with the return of the Adventure Comics brand and the end of the Legion ongoing, perhaps the post-Lo3W Legion will find a new home in their original home, Adventure Comics!
ReplyDeleteI'm seriously pissed in my pants right now! Does it strike anyone else as oddly exciting that in a Universe that is dying a boring death, the Legion is the only "place" that seems to have interesting things happen in it?
ReplyDeleteWell, THAT is unexpected.
ReplyDeleteAnd welcome; I always liked him.
Now we need him to meet Aquaman. The real one.
Wow. Just... wow. I bought this book only to fill in the story gap from the Jimmy Olsen Special and put it further back in my reading rotation -- until I saw your blog of today. And even fore-warned, I was taken by surprise. And a good surprise it was, too.
ReplyDeleteTellus was one of my favorite Legionnairies from the New Format era of the mid-80's. Loved Sensor Girl and Quislet as well. Last I saw him was in #51 of the 5 Years Later series, but I think it was a younger member of his race.
ReplyDeleteHow or why Robinson thought of bringing back Tellus is beyond me, but it's a welcome surprise.
Wow. I guess I'll have to go pick this up now.
ReplyDeletejoseph;
ReplyDeletei had SO forgotten about the 'lil' legion' dryadian... his name was lynk.
ganglios hisself showed up in v4 annual #3 at the reunion on winath. seemingly a dark circle sympathizer.
i think there may have been a couple of dryadians serving in earth's resistance fellet vs the dominion, too, but can't put my finger on them...
in the spirit of 5YL, my verification word is 'abion'
fleet. that would be FLEET.
ReplyDeleteHA!
ReplyDeletefound it!
there was an admiral darios in #30...
