Legion continuity flowchart v2

Can't tell Legion continuity without a scorecard? Well, here's your scorecard. What do you mean they have a complicated history? Just follow the flowchart!

Last fall, I posted a graphic showing the Legion's continuity as a "choose your own adventure" flowchart. Since then, we have added one new mainstream version of the team (coming next month in volume 9!) and seen all the others locked up in Brainiac 1M's timeline bottle repository. So I figure it's time for an update. This new image is updated through the recent Superman Annual 2026 Year One Thousand. The Legions seen in Brainiac 1M's bottles are shown in orange.

  • Bleeding Cool thinks there might be a Legion panel. DC is spotlighting the 1950s, and the Legion was created in 1958, of course. And there's a new series coming up in September, with the Superman Annual coming out the same week as the convention.
  • Here's a little teaser from Williamson and Sherman on the Legion.
  • There are at several new "Supergirl & the LSH" #23 unofficial variant covers for sale on Preview Night, all through ANZ Collects and all on eBay Live. You may recall a couple of other unofficial variants of this issue were sold at the 2023 SDCC.
    • Here's an Instagram post showing all five covers, by Kyu Yong Eom (gold virgin foil, limited to 250), Nathan Szerdy (silver virgin foil, limited to 350), a generic logo (virgin foil, limited to 650), Ariel Diaz (virgin, limited to 850), and David Nakayama (trade, limited to 900).
  • On Threads, Hayden Sherman said "I’m told there will also be a LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES ashcan!"
  • Plus, of course Legion World is going to be there again! Look for their booth in the Mezzanine level. Here's their post with all the details.

Superman Annual 2026 Year One Thousand #1

TBD

This is the end of the story for now. But of course, the new Legion book starts this summer

Reprint collections only for the individual titles so far, not for the entire Dark Legion storyline.
For some reason, it does not look like Summer of Superman Special #1 has been reprinted.

LSH volume 9? Coming this summer!

In the only news around here that really matters, the ComicsPRO retailer event this week in California FINALLY gave us something about the upcoming new series. If you'll recall, we found out in October that there's going to be a new series coming sometime in 2026, written by Josh Williamson.... and that's all we found out.

Well, this week we at least got a time frame: what looks like early summer. As Bleeding Cool reports, this is one of DC's All-In publishing event, which (amazingly) has been going on and selling amazingly for the last couple of years, most recently as "Next Level".

Note that the logo seen here is not necessarily what will be used on the new book, as all five of the logos are from older books. But at least we know early summer! (No artist announced yet, though.)

The big question is who will star in this book. I think it's going to be "everyone". Did you catch this from the "New History of the DC Universe" last year?

"The champions of the galaxy during this era are the Multiversal Legion of Super-Heroes, a massive group of super-powered alien teenagers from across the Multiverse comprising various alternate-Earth teams who move through this reality as needed."

That sounds like the pitch for a new team that's comprised of the Retroboot Legion, the Reboot Legion, the Threeboot Legion, and the Rebirth Legion. And I think that's who's going to star in the new book. But who's left? Is it only those who are left alive at the end of the DC KO storyline? Will Darkseid's Legion be defeated and turned into good guys? Will the dead be resurrected? We'll find out sometime early this summer, I guess!

A few years back, I did an exercise to figure out what the new series would be in terms of a legacy number. By my way of thinking, volume 9 issue 1 would be legacy #672, and this would have to last 29 issues in order to get to legacy #700.
