1000 Posts Later

Huh. If I posted just once a year, I'd be in the 31st century already.

So it turns out that my last trivia quiz post last week was my 1000th post here at the Omnicom. It's hard to believe that I've kept at it for that long (first post: November 8th, 2005, 3-1/2 years ago).

Over the last few years, because of the blog, I've been in contact with members of creative teams past and present, I've heard from people involved in the animated TV series, and Paul Levitz even told me (in San Diego last summer) that he pops in here from time to time. I was even consulted for a minor (non-spoilery) story element in "Legion of Three Worlds". A lot of people found me at San Diego last year just from my Simpson-ized icon, and I've met more people through this blog than I ever expected. (I'm just disappointed that The CW people didn't invite me for a set visit last fall, though, during the Legion episode of Smallville.) And I've had fun, especially due to my regular commenters, through trivia quizzes, annotations, review roundups, convention reports, sales charts, and more.

So here's to another 1000 posts. Long Live the Legion!

Blogiversary

So somehow I missed my blogiversary here a couple weeks ago, on November 8th. Welcome to Omnicom Year 4.

Like all bloggers I'm fascinated by my hit count.
* 11/08/06: 50,000 visits
* 11/08/07: 170,005 visits
* 11/08/08: 316.730 visits
Interestingly, I seem to have about 150,000 visits per year for each of the last two years. I'd have figured that I would have had many more visitors in 2007-08 than in 2006-07.

My top 5 posts over the last year:
3/29/08 (702) - Superboy lawsuit
4/2/08 (666) - Legion of 3 Worlds
4/5/08 (679) - Legion of 3 Worlds
8/21/08 (854) - Legion of 3 Worlds #1 annotations
10/16/08 (697) - Legion of 3 Worlds #2 annotations

Last year I had 2 posts with over 1000 visits and one at over 3000 (when my Paul Levitz rumor was mentioned in "Lying in the Gutters).

Top 5 non-Google referrers: Legion Abstract (thanks, Matthew!), Absorbascon (thanks Scipio!), Legion World and Legion Clubhouse (thanks, Scott!), and CBR (thanks, Rich, even if I didn't 100% believe your Shooter story).

Top keywords: Sorry, they're all rather pedestrian and expected: "Legion Omnicom", "adventure 247", "Legion of Superheroes", "Legion of Three Worlds", "superboy lawsuit", "legion blog", etc.

You have to dig down into the single and double digits to find stuff like "lester spiffany stolen", "jessica alba nude", "terence chua annotations", "urgal psytrops", "how to pronounce ayla", "saturn girl bikini", "frunt klordny", and "how to draw squee".

Anyway, thanks to my readership - without you guys, I'd be typing to and for myself. To Freedom, Friendship, and Frunt!

Blogiversary: starting year #3

Holy crap! Today's my 2nd blogiversary. Two years ago today I put up my first post.

My stats, 11/08/06: 50,000 visits
My stats, 11/08/07: 170,005 visits (as of a minute ago)

My top 5 posts over the last year:

8/6/07 (713) - Superboy lawsuit update
8/20/07 (1,195) - Jim Shooter rumor mentioned in "Lying in the Gutters"
9/10/07 (556) - Shooter at the Baltimore Comic Con
10/29/07 (3,122) - Paul Levitz rumor mentioned in "Lying in the Gutters"

In comparison, my top ranking post last year: 2/18/06 (442) - first look at animated show concept art

Top keywords: Sorry, they're all rather pedestrian and expected: "adventure 247", "Legion Omnicom", "Legion of Superheroes", "Legion Sourcebook", "adventure247", "jla/jsa/lsh", "legion of super heroes season 2", etc.

You have to dig down into the single and double digits to find stuff like "saturn girl pink bikini", "cheesecake", "the legion michael the cosmic space alien armee", "supergirl sex stories", "ayla pronunciation", "jessica alba nude", "legion of super heroes nude", and of course, "Who is One of Marvel Comics' most iconic villains and the archnemeses of the Fantastic Four?"

Anyway, thanks to my readership - without you guys, I'd be typing to and for myself. Looking forward to Year 3 with the 50th Anniversary of the Legion next spring.

Blogiversary!

Sometime between 9 and 10 pm last night, I had my 50,000th visitor since I started this blog exactly one year ago today. That's pretty good timing. Thanks to Google Analytics for the free cool stats, but most importantly thanks to the comics blogosphere for coming back.

For my one year blog anniversary (my blogiversary), I'm giving away a free copy of Adventure 247, the original appearance of the Legion from 1958. See this post for the details. I am still figuring out the details but it should be by the end of the month.

Top Ten ways people get here:

  1. Google
  2. direct link
  3. Wikipedia (for my entry on the Legion animated show)
  4. the Comics Weblog Update-A-Tron 3000
  5. Legion World message boards
  6. The Legion Clubhouse news/info site
  7. Blogger
  8. Comics Should Be Good! (old site)
  9. ToonZone forums (discussion on the animated show)
  10. The Absorbascon

My top Ten search engine queries:
  1. Adventure 247
  2. Adventure247
  3. legion+of+superheroes+cartoon
  4. "ronn-karr"

  7. adventure+247
  8. legion+of+super+heroes+jlu
  9. legion+of+super+heroes+cartoon
  10. "legion+of+super-heroes"+animated

You have to scroll all the way down to #121 for "Dude where's my pants", #192 for "Jessica Alba Nude", and #268 is "Tinya got her groove back". Everything else is a (relatively) normal search.

Top Ten highest hit counts:
